2020- What a year!  Covid changed things starting March 17th. Read Squared app for summer reading, Story walk supplies, take and make kits, summer reading prized  and books.  Total disbursement to library was $6445

2019- Books, Programs, Summer Reading Program Supplies and Performers, Halloween and Christmas Party treats, new projector, new story time carpet Totaling $6364.31

2014 - Summer Reading Program $2,306.57, books, $2,000, children's cushions $417.79.

2013 - Summer Reading Program $1,448.87, books $571.20, audiobooks $500, art cart and supplies $500, projector $321.23, movie licensing $110, magazine subscription $18.98.

2012 - Cash match for Libri Foundation grant books, audiobooks, DVDs, puzzle table, and summer reading program support.

2011 - Family DVDs, audio CDs, support for Summer Reading Program.

2010 - Books, support for Summer Reading Program.

2009 - Contribution for the new library checkout/catalog system, books, support for the Summer Reading Program, staff training.

2008 - Books, support for the Summer Reading Program.

2007 - Childrens books, Lego table and chairs, prize books, summer reading rewards.

2006 - Fax machine, boom box, puppet, Libri Foundation grant match, Heritage Quest subscription, Nintendo DS prize, help for Summer Reading Program, filing cabinet.

2005 - Over 90 children's books were purchased totaling about $1000.  In December of 2005 the Friends of the Library contributed $750 towards the purchase of audio books on CD.

The Friends of the Library is the fiscal agent for the Imagination Library here in Eldora.

Since 2007 the Friends has been the fiscal agent for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library here in Eldora.    As the 501(c)(3) fiscal agent, the Friends write the checks, but the actual funds come from the community.  Support comes from the United Fund, service clubs, businesses, the Imagination Library Bridge Group, and individuals.

The Imagination Library sends a free book in the mail once a month to children from birth through age 4 in the 50627 ZIP code area.  Income is not a factor.  All children may participate.  The idea of the program is to encourage parents to read more to their children to get them ready for school and success in life.

How Do I Give to the Eldora Public Library Endowment Fund?  (Distributions from the fund go to the Friends.)

Just make out a check to the Eldora Public Library Endowment Fund and send it to the Eldora Public Library at 1202 10th St., Eldora, IA 50627.

In the fall of 2012 the Eldora Public Library Endowment Fund was established through the Hardin County Community Endowment Foundation, an affiliate of the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines.  At our local level it was set up through the Friends of the Eldora Public Library.

Donations to the endowment may be of any amount and are fully deductible to the extent permitted by federal law. They may be in the form of cash, grain, gifts of securities, or in selected cases, other gifts of value. Donors will also receive a 25% Endow Iowa Tax Credit, in addition to their Federal Tax deductions, for all gifts to the permanent endowment.
